There is this term known to those who live in the upper Mid-West. It is stoicism. It is a life sucking essence, an expression suppression creature, and it affects much of the inhabitants of western North Dakota. It is awful, and I have declared war on it as of last fall. Actually my church did, we learned the background to a characteristic we all have or know. It was an interesting history and spiritual lesson. Norwegian heritage is the strongest breeder of stoic Jante.
It ruins everything, I hate it, and therefore, I will scream and laugh and cry and love wildly.
